How to Track Quiz Conversions on Shopify
Introduction
Conversion Tracking connects what happens after your quiz — product clicks, add-to-carts, and purchases — back to the shoppers who took it. On Shopify, you turn it on with a single App Embed. Once it's active, every conversion and the revenue behind it is recorded on the shopper's Quizell profile, so you can see which quizzes drive sales and build marketing flows around quiz-driven revenue.
Note: Conversion Tracking is available for Shopify stores only.
How to activate Conversion Tracking
1. Open your Shopify theme editor
In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store under Sales channels. Find the theme where your quiz is live and click Edit theme.

2. Open the App embeds panel
In the theme editor, click the App embeds icon in the left toolbar. This lists every app embed available on your store.
3. Turn on Conversion Tracking
Find Conversion Tracking by Quizell in the list and switch its toggle on.

4. Save
Click Save in the top right. If you enabled it on a draft theme, remember to publish that theme — tracking only runs on your live store.
That's it. Quizell will now record conversions and revenue for shoppers who take your quiz.
Where your conversion data appears
Conversion data currently lands on the shopper's Quizell customer profile in two places.
In the event timeline
Each conversion is logged as an event on the profile, with a timestamp — for example Product clicked, Added to cart, and Purchase made, alongside the specific product. This lets you follow a shopper's journey from quiz answer to purchase.
In the profile's Customer Value
Revenue data is summarized on the profile under Customer Value — including Value Generated, Value Potential, and Yearly CLV — so you can see what each quiz-driven shopper is worth at a glance.

Sending conversion data to your integrations
When you activate an integration, this conversion and revenue data is sent out along with the rest of the profile information. That means you can build flows and segments based on quiz revenue — for example, triggering a follow-up for high-value shoppers or those who clicked but didn't buy.
Best practices
- Enable Conversion Tracking on the same theme where your quiz embeds are live, so the full journey from quiz to purchase is captured.
- Connect an integration to put quiz revenue to work in your email and SMS flows.
- Use the Customer Value figures to spot your highest-value quiz paths and double down on them.
Important notes
- Conversion Tracking is a Shopify App Embed — it's available for Shopify stores only.
- It must be enabled on your live (published) theme to track real storefront traffic.
- Conversion data is currently recorded on Quizell customer profiles. From there, it flows to any integration you activate.
Troubleshooting
Conversions aren't showing up. Confirm the Conversion Tracking embed is toggled on and that you saved. If you enabled it on a draft theme, it only tracks once that theme is published and live.
Events appear but no revenue. Make sure the purchase is completed on the same store where the embed is active. Revenue is attributed to shoppers who took your quiz — purchases from visitors with no quiz session won't be attributed.
I don't see the data in my integration. Conversion and revenue data syncs out only after an integration is activated. Check that your integration is connected and active.
