How to Configure a Jump Logic for Your Quiz

Introduction

Jump Logic in Quizell lets you control how users move through your quiz based on their answers.

With Jump Logic, you can send users to a specific page, skip (hide) pages, end the quiz early, or redirect them to an external URL — creating fully personalized quiz journeys. You can base a rule on a single answer or chain several conditions together with AND/OR for more precise targeting, and visualize the entire flow in Map View.

This guide walks you through configuring Jump Logic step by step, following the exact flow shown in the Quizell editor.

Step-by-step setup guide

Step 1: Open your quiz from the dashboard

  1. Log in to your Quizell dashboard.
  2. Click Quizzes from the left-side menu.
  3. Locate the quiz you want to edit and click to open it.

Step 2: Open the Jump Logic settings

  1. Inside the quiz editor, click Settings in the left sidebar.
  2. From the top settings menu, select Jump Logic.
  3. Click Add Rule to create a new rule.

You'll notice two tabs near the top: Logics (where you build your rules) and Map View (a visual map of your quiz flow — covered at the end of this guide).

Step 3: Select the question (IF)

Each rule starts with an IF condition.

  1. Under IF, open the Select your question dropdown.
  2. Search for or choose the question you want to base the logic on (e.g., Q3: How old are you?).

Step 4: Choose the condition operator

Next to the question, set how the answer should be evaluated:

  • IS — the rule triggers when the visitor's answer matches your selection
  • IS NOT — the rule triggers when the visitor's answer does not match your selection

Step 5: Select the answer(s)

  1. Open the answer dropdown and choose one or more answers that should trigger the rule (e.g., 18-29 and 30-44).
  2. If you select more than one answer, a Matches toggle appears:
  • Any Selected — the rule triggers if the visitor picks any of the chosen answers
  • All Selected — the rule triggers only if the visitor picks all of the chosen answers

Step 6: (Optional) Add more conditions

To make a rule more specific, you can combine multiple conditions.

  1. Click + Add Condition.
  2. Choose how to join it to the previous condition:
  • AND — both conditions must be true
  • OR — either condition can be true

  1. Set the new condition's question, operator, and answers, just as before.

For example: IF Q3 (age) IS 18-29 or 30-44 AND Q6 (sunscreen) IS Never.

Step 7: Choose what happens next (THEN)

Under THEN, decide what the rule does when its conditions are met. Open the action dropdown and pick one:

  • Jump To — send the user to a specific page
  • Hide Pages — skip one or more pages for that user
  • End Quiz — finish the quiz early
  • Redirect New Tab — open an external URL in a new tab
  • Redirect Same Tab — open an external URL in the same tab

Then set the target in Select Options:

  • For Jump To and Hide Pages, choose the relevant page(s). Available targets include your Get Started Page, any question, your Lead Page, Result Page, and Thank You Page.
  • For Redirect New Tab / Redirect Same Tab, enter the destination URL.
  • End Quiz needs no target.

Step 8: Save your Jump Logic

  1. Review your rule configuration.
  2. Click Save Changes (top-right) to apply the logic to your quiz.

🎉 Congrats! You've successfully configured Jump Logic for your quiz.

Managing your rules

  • Add more rules — click Add Rule to create additional rules; use Previous / Next at the bottom to move between them.
  • Duplicate a rule — click Duplicate rule to copy a rule as a starting point for a similar one.
  • Delete a rule — click Delete rule to remove it.

Visualize your flow with Map View

Switch to the Map View tab to see your entire quiz as a visual flowchart. Each page connects to the next, with color-coded lines showing every action — Next, Jump to, Hide, Redirect to new tab, Redirect to same tab, and End quiz.

Map View is the fastest way to confirm your logic behaves as intended and to spot gaps or dead ends. Note that Map View is read-only — make your edits in the Logics tab.

Tips for best results

  • Build rules around clear outcomes. Decide where each answer should lead before you create the rule.
  • Use AND/OR deliberately. AND narrows who a rule applies to; OR widens it.
  • Check Map View after changes. A quick look confirms there are no unintended loops or skipped pages.
  • Keep rules tidy. Duplicate similar rules instead of rebuilding, and delete ones you no longer need.

What's next?

Jump Logic, combined with these features, lets you create tailored quiz journeys that improve engagement and deliver a better experience.
