How to Configure the OTP (One Time Password) Feature

Introduction


The OTP (One Time Password) feature allows you to add an extra layer of security and validation to your Quizell quizzes by requiring users to verify their identity via a code sent to their email. This feature is available for Plus users and above. Follow the steps below to enable, configure, and customize this feature.

Step-by-step Setup Guide


Step 1: Add the OTP to your quiz


  1. Open the Quizell dashboard and navigate to the Quizzes section.


  1. Locate the quiz you want to edit, click the ⋮ menu on its card and select Customize.



  1. Below the page preview, select the Lead Page where you collect the user’s email.


  1. In the right panel, click Add Content, then under Lead Form / Inputs select OTP Verification (tip: type “OTP” in the search box).



  1. This will add the OTP section to your quiz.


Note: While it will appear on the same screen in your editor, users will see it on a separate page.



  1. Save your changes.


For tips on customizing the OTP’s design, refer to Step 3 below.


Step 2: Set Up the OTP with an Email Field


  1. On the same Lead Page, add an Email input (Add Content > Lead Form / Inputs > Email) and turn on Field is required.


Note: An email input is essential for the OTP feature to work.



  1. Save your design.


The flow for your users will look like this:


  1. Users enter their name and email (fields set by the admin).



  1. Users are prompted to enter the OTP.



  1. Users receive the Quizell default OTP email containing the verification code.



  1. Users enter the code into the dedicated field to proceed to the next question.

Step 3: Design your OTP field


You can customize the OTP feature’s appearance using the following options in the Quiz Editor:


Feature 1 – Input Tab


Click the OTP Verification element and use the Input tab to customize the OTP input and its buttons:


· Back Button text: Set the text for the Back button.


· Resend Button text: Set the text for the Resend button.


· Stroke Color: Under Advanced design controls, set the color and opacity of the OTP input boxes.


· Padding: Adjust the spacing around the OTP input.



Feature 2 – Heading Tab


Use the Heading tab to customize the heading above the OTP field:


· Show Label: Toggle the heading on or off, and enter your text in the Label field.


· Font: Under Advanced design controls, choose the font family, size and style.


· Align: Set the alignment of the heading text.


· Text Color and Padding: Choose the heading color and adjust the spacing around it.



Feature 3 – Action Tab


Use the Action tab to style the button that submits the OTP:


· Button text: Set the text displayed on the button (for example, “Verify”).


· Width and Height: Define the size of the button.


· Position: Choose the button’s placement (Left, Centered, or Right).


· Corners Shape: Under Advanced design controls, make the button’s corners square or rounded.


· Button Color: Select a color for the button.


· Button Text Color: Choose a color for the text on the button.


· Font and Padding: Set the font family, size and style of the button text, and adjust its padding.



Important Note: Don’t forget to save your changes before moving on to your next task!
