How to Create Your First AI Sales Agent
Introduction
The Quizell AI Sales Agent is an AI-powered chat assistant that engages your website visitors in real time — answering their questions, recommending the right products, and capturing leads while you sleep.
Unlike a generic chatbot, your AI Sales Agent is trained on your own content: your quizzes, your instructions, and your FAQs. That means it speaks in your brand's voice and guides visitors toward the right outcome for your business.
This article walks you through creating and setting up your first agent — the foundational settings that get it live. Once it's created, you can train it, customize its look, and connect it to your site (covered in the related articles linked at the bottom).
Step-by-step guide
1. Open the AI Agent section
- In your Quizell dashboard, open the left sidebar
- Click AI Agent, then My Agents
- In the top-right corner, click Create AI Agent

A quick two-step setup window opens.
2. Choose what your agent should do first
The first step asks "What should the widget do first?" Pick the option that matches your primary objective:
- Grow Sales — focus the agent on recommending products and driving purchases
- Automate support — focus it on answering questions and resolving issues
- Generate leads — focus it on capturing visitor details
This sets your agent's starting direction — you can refine its behavior later. The panel on the right shows a live preview of how the agent will look and behave.

3. Name your agent and set its goal
On the next step, Name your AI Agent:
- Enter an AI Agent name (required) — an internal label that helps you identify the agent in your dashboard, especially once you're running more than one
- In Main goal, describe what you want your agent to accomplish
Be specific with the goal — it shapes how your agent behaves and what it steers conversations toward. For example:
To recommend the right product to my visitorsI want to generate new leads
Click Finish to create your agent. (Use Back if you want to change the objective from the previous step.)

You'll now land in the AI Agent Editor, on the Basic settings tab, where you can fine-tune everything else. The name and main goal you just entered appear here too and can be edited at any time.
4. Upload your agent logo
- Under AI Agent Logo, click Upload
- Choose an image that represents your brand or assistant
This logo is displayed on your live widget, so pick something recognizable and on-brand.

5. Choose a language
- Open the Language dropdown
- Select the language your agent should speak
Match this to your primary audience so the conversation feels natural.

6. Set your welcome message
Under Message type, choose how your agent greets visitors:
- Context-based — Quizell generates a welcome message automatically, based on your company details. Best if you want a hands-off, AI-written greeting.
- Custom message — Write your own welcome message. Best if you want full control over the first thing visitors see.
If you choose Custom message, type your greeting in the Custom message field. For example: Hello! How can I help you today?

7. Activate and save
- Toggle Activate on (top-right of the Basic settings panel)
- Click Save Changes

That's it!
Your AI Sales Agent is now created and configured with its core settings. 🎉
What happens next
Your agent is set up, but there are a few more steps before it's ready to sell:
- Train it — Add a quiz, write instructions, and build out your FAQ so the agent knows what to say.
- Customize the design — Match the widget's colors, position, and styling to your brand.
- Connect it to your website — Use the Connect AI agent to your website button (top-right) to go live.
You can test everything from the dashboard preview before connecting — and preview testing doesn't cost any engagement credits.
Best practices
- Write a specific main goal. "Recommend the right plan based on order volume" works far better than "help customers."
- Keep your custom welcome short and inviting. A single friendly line outperforms a long paragraph.
- Match the language to your audience, not your own preference.
- Name agents clearly if you plan to run more than one (e.g., by client, product line, or goal).
Important notes
- Your agent must be Active to appear on your live site.
- Always click Save Changes before leaving the editor — unsaved edits are lost.
- Creating and previewing an agent is free; credits are only consumed by real conversations once the agent is live. You can check your balance and buy credits under AI Agent → Billing.
Troubleshooting
My changes didn't save
- Make sure you clicked Save Changes at the bottom of the Basic settings panel
- If you navigated away, re-open the agent and re-enter your settings
The welcome message field is greyed out
- Confirm you've selected Custom message under Message type — the field is only editable in that mode
I can't find my agent
- Go to AI Agent → My Agents in the sidebar; all agents you've created are listed there
