How to Add a Measurement Input to Your Quiz

Introduction

The Measurement input lets you collect numeric answers with a unit attached, such as a customer's height, weight, age, or the size of a space. Instead of asking users to type both a number and a unit, you choose the unit in advance (for example, centimeters, kilograms, or years), and Quizell displays it right next to the input field. This keeps answers clean and consistent, making them easier to use for personalized recommendations and follow-ups.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Step 1: Open the Quiz Editor

  1. Log in to your Quizell account.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Quizzes.
  3. Click the quiz you want to edit to open it in the editor.

Step 2: Add the Measurement Input

  1. Below the page preview, select your Lead Page.
  2. In the right panel, under the Content tab, click Add Content.

Note: If your quiz doesn't have a Lead Page yet, add one first. See How to Add a Lead Input to Your Quiz for the steps.

  1. In the Add Content popup, under Interactive Inputs, click Measurement.

The Measurement input is added to your Lead Page and appears in the content list in the right panel. Use the up and down arrows on the input to move it to the position you want.

Step 3: Choose the Measurement Type and Unit

  1. In the right panel, click the new Measurement item to open its settings.
  2. Enter a Measurement Name. This field is required and helps you identify the input.

  1. Open the type dropdown and choose what you want to measure:
  • Time – years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, or seconds.
  • Length/Size – millimeters, centimeters, meters, kilometers, inches, feet, yards, or miles.
  • Weight/Mass – milligrams, grams, kilograms, ounces, or pounds.
  • Volume/Capacity – milliliters, liters, teaspoons, fluid ounces, cups, pints, or gallons.

  1. Use the unit dropdown below it (for example, Time period to use or Unit of length to use) to pick the unit. The selected unit appears next to the input field in the preview.

Step 4: Customize the Input Settings

Fine-tune how the input looks and behaves:

  • Label – toggle to show a label above the input, and edit its text (e.g., "What is your height?").
  • Placeholder – guide users with sample text, e.g., "Enter your height (e.g. 170)".
  • Field is required – make the input mandatory before users can proceed.

Step 5: Adjust Style

Click Advanced design controls to tailor the look of your measurement input, with options such as:

  • Border Style and Border Weight – choose a solid or dashed border and set its thickness.
  • Corners Shape – choose square, rounded, or fully rounded corners.
  • Text Color and Stroke Color – match the input to your brand colors.
  • Padding – adjust the spacing around the input.

Step 6: Save Your Changes

Once you're done customizing, click Save in the top-right corner of the editor.

You've successfully added a Measurement input to your quiz. Your users can now enter numeric answers in the unit you selected, giving you clean, consistent data for better personalization.

Tips

  • Choose the unit your audience uses most, for example inches and pounds for US customers, or centimeters and kilograms for most other regions.
  • Use a clear label and a realistic placeholder example so users know exactly what to enter.
  • Need more than one value, such as height and weight? Add a separate Measurement input for each one.
