How to Personalize Your Emails Using Quiz Data

Introduction

Personalization is one of the most effective ways to increase engagement and boost email performance. With Quizell, you can automatically insert quiz data—such as user details, custom input values, and answers to quiz questions—directly into your emails.

This guide walks you through how to set up email personalization step by step.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Step 1: Capture the Data You Want to Use in Emails

Before you can personalize your emails, make sure your quiz is collecting the correct information.

  1. Open the Quizell Dashboard and navigate to Quizzes.
  2. Select the quiz you want to personalize emails for.
  3. Confirm you are collecting the right data, such as:

• Lead Data

Examples: Full Name, Email, Phone Number, Date, Organization

• Custom Inputs

Custom fields you create, for example: Hair type (for a grooming brand), Skin concerns (for a skincare quiz), Fitness goals (for a coaching service)

Step 2: Open the Email Flow Editor

  1. In the Quizell Dashboard, go to Email Flow.
  2. Find the flow you want to update.
  3. Click the three dots next to it and select Edit.

  1. In the Flow Editor, choose the email you want to personalize.
  2. Click Edit Email Design to open the Email Builder.

Step 3: Insert Personalized Data into Your Email

Inside the Email Builder:

  1. Click any text element where you want personalization to appear.

  1. In the left-side panel, locate the content field and click “Add Personalization”.

  1. Select the type of data you want to insert:

Profile Data

Standard user fields such as:

  • Full Name
  • Email
  • Address
  • OTP (One-Time Password)

Custom Inputs

Custom fields you added inside the quiz (e.g., skin type, hair condition, budget).

Quiz Questions

Insert a user’s answer to a specific quiz question.

After selecting a data point, Quizell will automatically add the personalization tag (e.g., %name%, %skin_type%, %q1_answer%) into your text.

💡 Tip: Make sure the personalization data you use is collected before the email is sent and matches the logic of your flow.

Step 4: Save and Activate Your Email Flow

  1. Click Save & Exit to apply your personalization changes.

  1. Review your flow in the Flow Editor.
  2. Toggle the Draft button to Live to activate the flow.

🎉 Your personalized email flow is now live!
