# How to Add a Signature Field to Your Quiz

## Introduction

The **Signature** field lets you collect a respondent's signature right inside your quiz — either **drawn** or **typed**. It's perfect for confirmations, consent, agreements, or as a personal, engaging final step ("sign to unlock your results").

Every signature is captured and saved to the respondent's **customer profile**, where you can view and download it.

## Step 1: Add the Signature block

* In the editor, open the **Blocks** panel
* Search for **Signature** (you'll find it under **Interactive Inputs**)
* Add it to the page where you want people to sign — usually a details or confirmation page

## Step 2: Set whether a signature is required

Select the Signature block to open its settings. Turn on **Required** if respondents must sign before moving on — useful for consent or agreement steps.

> **Note:** The signature canvas is interactive in **Preview** and on your **live quiz**, not inside the editor. In the editor you'll see a placeholder instead of a drawable canvas.

## Step 3: Style the canvas

Customize how the signature area looks:

* **Canvas Background Color** — the fill behind the signature
* **Text/Stroke Color** — the "ink" color used when drawing or typing
* **Canvas size and shape** — set the canvas height, stroke thickness, corner radius, and border width
* **Border Color** — the color of the canvas border
* **Font Family** — the font used for **typed** signatures (for example, a script font like Dancing Script for a handwritten feel)

## Step 4: Customize the tabs and labels

Respondents can switch between two modes using tabs: **Draw** and **Type**. You can style and relabel these:

* **Tab Appearance** — set the **Active Tab Color**, **Inactive Tab Color**, and **Tab Border Color**
* **Draw Tab Label** — the label for the drawing tab (default: "Draw")
* **Type Tab Label** — the label for the typing tab (default: "Type")
* **Clear Button Label** — the label for the reset button (default: "Clear")
* **Type Placeholder** — the hint text shown in the Type field (for example, "Type your signature here…")

## How respondents sign

On the live quiz, respondents can:

* **Draw** — sign directly on the canvas with a mouse, trackpad, or finger

* **Type** — type their name, which renders in your chosen signature font

* **Clear** — reset the canvas and start again

## Where signatures are saved

Once a respondent completes the quiz, their signature is saved to their **customer profile**:

* Go to **Customers → Profiles** and open the respondent
* The signature is recorded in their activity as collected lead info, and appears in a **Signature** card
* Use the **download** icon on the card to save the signature

## That's it!

You're now collecting signatures inside your quiz, and each one is saved to the respondent's profile. 🎉

## Best practices

* **Lead with the value.** Frame the ask around the benefit — "Sign to confirm and unlock your recommendations" — rather than just "Signature."
* **Set Required for consent steps.** If the signature confirms an agreement, make it required so no one skips it.
* **Match your brand.** Set the stroke and font colors to fit your quiz's look.
* **Test in Preview.** Since the canvas isn't drawable in the editor, use Preview to check the signing experience on both desktop and mobile.

## Important notes

* The signature canvas is **interactive in Preview and on the live quiz only** — the editor shows a placeholder.
* Respondents can sign by **drawing or typing**, and switch between the two with the tabs.
* A signature collected here is captured for confirmation and personalization. If you need a legally binding e-signature for contracts, make sure the approach meets your own legal and compliance requirements.

## Troubleshooting

**The signature isn't showing on the profile**

* Confirm the respondent actually completed and submitted the quiz.
* Check the correct profile under **Customers → Profiles**.

**I can't sign in the editor**

* That's expected — the canvas is only interactive in **Preview** and on the live quiz.

**Respondents are skipping the signature**

* Turn on **Required** in the Signature block's settings.
